The FRIENDS Trust was started to propagate information and enhance health literacy among the public, medical and non-medical professionals and patients about neurological disorders and assist in their rehabilitation
Neurosciences today are on the brink of an explosion. much as we know about the brain and its functions, our ignorance exceeds our knowledge.
1900-2000 was declared the “Decade of the Brain” by the neuroscience community of the world
To acknowledge recent advances in the understanding of the brain.
To challenge neuro-scientists to pursue research to make the public aware of the magnitude of neurological diseases and the economic and social burden this imposes on the community
The FRIENDS Trust was born with this in mind in 1994. A few friends (doctors, businessmen, administrators, accountants, housewives & people from all walks of life) got together to form. The Foundation for Research & Information Exchange on Neurological Diseases. The need was felt for an organization offering excellent diagnostic and daycare services in the rehabilitation of brain damage. An Institute to disseminate knowledge, is a natural offshoot of such a service.
The initial thrust of our work is directed towards comprehensive care for epilepsy, the most common manifestation of organic brain damage. Through EPICENTTRE we have conducted several awareness programs, free epilepsy clinics and helped people with epilepsy through job placement introductions, advocacy initiatives and improved public attitudes towards destigmatizing epilepsy through talks on radio, television, and in person
Several awareness initiatives through invited guest lectures by Neurologists, etc have also been organized to improve public understanding of neurological disorders.
Rehabilitation of victims of brain damage is the objective of the FRIENDS Trust
To meet our objectives to help victims of organics brain damage we need FRIENDS – who can give ideas, time, money!
It is a hard, cold reality of life that everything costs money. Compassion is no exceptions.
Your help can see someone through a dark period of life. Make a commitment to give. Give now or too many will suffer – children, adults, the elderly. What matters in life is the currency of emotions, of sharing, of helping!

We are constantly in need of help to get our programs going successfully.
So if you have some time to spare, join us as a volunteer, give us the details of what time of day and what day of the week or month you can spare, we will put it into our database and call you as and when we need you. You will be given ideally a week’s notice, but definitely at least 24 hours notice – after all one cannot predict when someone needs our help ! To register click here
